Mattress Overview
The Birch Natural Mattress is a hybrid mattress featuring latex and pocketed coils. Each of the Birch Natural mattresses uses natural rayon fibers along with organically certified wool as natural flame retardants. The mattress has very low chemical emissions making it perfect for sensitive and allergy-prone sleepers.
Construction
The construction of the mattress defines its quality. The Birch Natural mattress has an excellent design with numerous layers that are made with 100% organic material. The mattress is 11 inches in thickness making it a good average mattress for most sleepers.
- Cover– The cover of the Birch Natural mattress is a plush top made with organic cotton. This cotton is Global Organic Textile Standard or GOTS certified for its organic authenticity. The cover sports an appealing quilted design with horizontal lines that gives a soft touch to the mattress. The organic cotton used makes the cover highly breathable with the natural cooling property.
The wool used in the quilting is also organic with natural rayon fibers. It is flame retardant giving the mattress a protective layer against fire damage. - Comfort Layer– Right below the cover is the comfort layer that is made with the Birch wool and Talalay latex material. This Birch wool is also 100% organic and excellent at giving comfort and wicks away at moisture buildup keeping the mattress cool and dry.
The latex is Eco-INSTITUT certified for low emissions making it suitable for all sleepers. It is also highly ventilated and designed for superior flexibility. Even though the latex is not as pliable as the regular memory foam, it still does a good job of body contouring. Latex also has natural cooling properties that further aid the mattresses in remaining cool. - Support Layer– The support layer of the mattress is the coil layer. This is an individually pocketed coil layer that gives the mattress its bounce. It also makes the mattress more resilient and prevents the latex layer from sinking too much into the mattress.
- Base– The base of the mattress is another thin layer of organic FR wool. This second layer of flame retardant wool further adds to the fire protection of the mattress.
Motion Isolation
The latex layer works well to absorb motion and isolate it while the coils are individually packed and pocketed to ensure that the motion is segregated in one section of the mattress without affecting the other sections.
Body Temperature Regulation
The cotton and wool used in constructing the Birch mattress have naturally sweat wicking and general cooling properties. The individually encased coils promote air circulation and do not trap any heat in the mattress. Further, the latex layer and the outer covering have a well-ventilated design that also promote air circulation.
Edge Support
Each Birch Natural mattress and the Natural Luxe mattress comes with renewed perimeter surfacing. The reinforced edging helps keep the mattress in shape and allows the sleeper to sleep comfortably on an even surface.
The medium firmness level of the Birch Natural mattress prevents the body from sinking too low on the mattress which in turn takes the pressure off the edges and keeps them safe from sagging. Further, the coil layer of the Birch mattress is strengthened along the perimeter to ensure that the mattress does not sag at the sides with added pressure. The stitching at the sides is also strong with a double stitch seam to prevent it from coming apart at the corners.

Company Policies
Sleep Trial Period
Birch offers a 100-night sleeper trial period. There is a lock-in of 30 nights from the day the mattress is delivered to your doorstep. You can initiate the return process anytime post this 30-night mandatory trial period by calling the customer care service of the company. Each customer and household is allowed a maximum of two returns during this period. The shipping costs associated with this return are borne by the company itself.
Warranty
The Birch Natural mattress comes with a 20-year warranty period. This is a great warranty time and exceeds the general warranty of most mattress companies. The warranty is partially prorated and covers all manufacturing defects and damages for the first 10 years. This includes all the shipping and transportation costs associated with the process.
Birch also offers an accidental warranty that covers stains, tears, rips, and other damage incurred in the normal use of the mattress. This includes damage done by pets as well. This additional warranty comes under the range of $79 to $139 depending on the size of your mattress.
Shipping and Delivery
The company offers free shipping in all 50 US states. The Birch mattress is shipped through FedEx ground shipping. It is dispatched within 5 to 7 working days post a successful order placement and payment and reaches the destination within the week post the dispatch. The mattress is shipped individually and any other bedding product that you buy from the company comes in a separate package.
Packaging
The Birch mattress is securely packed in a compressed state. The mattress is rolled and vacuum-sealed in a plastic bag before being put in a rectangular cardboard box. This box is then delivered to your doorstep.
